I decided to read the manhua and it differs greatly from this.
1st) The mc is extremely OP that
these guys who gave him trouble in this are easily killed by him that he never had to run away not once. He's also a little arrogant. The guy who took the girl he was going to marry got his a$$ kicked by the mc and used a trick to teloport he and the girl away. So he never had his memories of her removed.
2nd) The fmc is possessive of the mc that she gets hostile if other girls show an interest in him. She even tell other girls that he belongs to her. It also seems that in the manhua she's not as strong as she is in this. Plus she is very provocative.

Manhua are different from LN, while the anime likes to adopt its story from the LN and not the Manhua.

You might as well let them know that manhua is targetted at younger readers, so a lot of mature and violent contents are usually removed from the manhua to cater for 12 to 16 year olds :)

So question, even if the Liu family guy got ahold of MC, he told the guard that he "broke the rules". What rules? How will he prove it? The only "rules" he broke were common sense. The issue with the Liu family happened in the common world, which is not regulated by the sect. So he's risking his reputation and his dignity by using the sect's "police force" to harass someone who is innocent. If the elder that he falls under has any sense at all, he will smack him around for dragging the sect's dignity and integrity through the mud.

It's been a while, but I believe he killed those people because they were going to kill him. It's just a pointless revenge circle that's in every b-level Chinese cultivation fiction.
